Starting September 2017

Moving with the small group ...

This is a new project aimed at giving new teachers and barefoot members the opportunity to share their movement facilitation skills with a smaller group on a Sunday evening. We’ve put together the first three led sessions which will be facilitated by our very own, Sue Claire, Dave and Xenia. The dates are below. We are inviting group members to sign up to all three sessions, at a cost of £15 in total, and hope we will build a sense of group over the three sessions.

The dates/times are:
Sunday 24th Sept; 7:30pm to 9:00pm - facilitated by Sue-Claire Morris

Sunday 29th Oct; 7:30pm to 9:00pm - facilitated by Xenia Berndt

Sunday 26th Nov; 7:30pm to 9:00pm - facilitated by Dave Castle

(Please arrive at 7:15 for all sessions for a prompt start at 7:30pm)

Details that are available from the three group facilitators are included below. If you are interested in attending, please note there are limited places, please talk to:

Karen at dance, or email her at barefoot.dancer@yahoo.co.uk

Whilst we are hoping to create a small closed group for the three sessions we hope to put together other short series  with opportunities to be part of other small group experiences if you miss this one.

BALANCING THE ENERGIES

An exploration of moving with the day and night of ourselves, the sun and moon and dancing with light and shadows. Balancing the active and receptive aspects of the masculine/feminine within us all.

AUTUMN EQUINOX EQUILIBRIUM

An invitation to realign and reconnect with all these aspects as we step into the energy of the Autumn and see where we are in the cycle of this journey.

Sue-Claire will facilitate this evening through movement, writing and drawing. She is a qualified DMP (dance and movement psychotherapist); a Shakti Dance Teacher and a Creative Arts Facilitator.

Sunday 29 October; 7:30 to 9:00pm
with Xenia Berndt

'Inspired by the trees at this time of year,  we will dance with the tree of life - our strong roots anchoring us deep into the earth, our fluid trunk as a bridge between earth and heaven, and our branches reaching up high into the celestial heavens. From this place we will surrender our leaves - what we are ready to let go of in our lives - to the earth, so they will turn into compost, supporting new life to grow.'

Sunday 26 November; 7:30 to 9:00pm

Tao of Dance -  drawing on 20 years experience as a Tai Chi Teacher, and through having worked with many wonderful 5 Rhythms teachers such as Susannah and Y'aacov, I see how the two approaches to movement often compliment each other.

In this session we will explore Body Consciousness, and the Yin and Yang of movement which can lead to the Tao, the place of balance, where the mind finds stillness and we can move beyond  'the Dancer' and become 'the Dance'.

There will be some partner work exercises, some facilitated movement, and also plenty of time for free dance and self- expression.
